Krachtige zang, rauwe verhalen, extravagante mode; VIAJERO DEL AMOR [A Lover’s Journey] RevolutionS is een eclectische musical (pop, jazz, folk) die ons eraan herinnert dat we de kracht hebben om obstakels te overwinnen voor het vervullen van onze dromen.
ARIAH LESTER vertelt ons over het avontuur van migreren van het ene continent naar het andere en de veerkracht die daarvoor nodig is. Door middel van poëzie en muziek transformeert hij zijn eigen verhaal in een spiegel: een ruimte van reflectie voor het verhaal van vele Venezolanen, migranten en mensen die hard hebben gevochten om hun doelen te bereiken. Hij maakt mensen bewust van de huidige crisis in zijn thuisland en de complexiteit van het doorkruist worden door verschillende politieke, economische en culturele realiteiten.
VIAJERO DEL AMOR [A Lover’s Journey] RevolutionS transformeert grote vragen in liedjes, verleden in toekomst en beperkingen in potentie. ARIAH spreekt Engels, zingt in het Spaans en gebruikt Engels/Nederlandse ondertiteling in zijn poging een brug te slaan tussen twee werelden die ver uit elkaar liggen: Venezuela en Nederland. Hij herinnert ons eraan dat we niet zo veel van elkaar verschillen en dat alles wat we in hem zien slechts een weerspiegeling is van wat in onszelf is. Diep van binnen is er een gemeenschappelijke factor die ons groter maakt: onze moed, onze authenticiteit, ons vermogen om van onszelf te houden en in onszelf te geloven, het vermogen om pijn om te zetten in schoonheid.
De charismatische performer ARIAH LESTER maakt internationaal snel furore. Met zijn heldere countertenor loodst hij zijn publiek een wereld binnen waar de ene realiteit haast onmerkbaar overgaat in de andere. In 2017 won hij de Sabam Jongtheaterschrijfprijs bij Theater Aan Zee en in 2019 ontving hij een nominatie voor de BNG Bank Theaterprijs.
Na THE GATE is VIAJERO DEL AMOR [A Lover’s Journey] RevolutionS Lesters tweede voorstelling onder de vleugels van Productiehuis Theater Rotterdam in coproductie met O. in het kader van de nieuwe makerssubsidie van Fonds Podiumkunsten.

ARIAH LESTER tells us about the adventure of migrating across continents and the resilience that it requires. Through poetry and music he transforms his own story in a mirror: a space of reflexion for the story of many Venezuelans, migrants – and overall – people who have fought hard to accomplish their goals. He raises awareness about the actual crisis in his home country and the complexity of being intersected by different political, economical, and cultural realities.
VIAJERO DEL AMOR [A Lover’s Journey] RevolutionS transforms big questions into songs, past into future, and limitations into potentiality. ARIAH talks English, sings in Spanish and uses English/Dutch subtitles in his attempt to become a bridge between two worlds that are far apart: Venezuela and The Netherlands. He reminds us that we are not that different from each other and that everything we see in him is a mere reflection of what it is inside ourselves. Deep within there is a common factor that makes us greater: our courage, our authenticity, our capacity to love and believe in ourselves, the ability to transform pain into beauty.
